Red Rose Salads Ltd is a UK-based agricultural company with decades of experience in vegetable growing. Established in 1989 and based in Lancashire, the business specializes in fresh produce, including beetroot and lettuce.

With an established background in agriculture and vegetable cultivation, Red Rose Salads has invested in dedicated processing equipment to turn beetroot into juice, bringing together its knowledge of raw materials with new production capabilities.

The Goal

Red Rose Salads needed a complete processing solution capable of transforming fresh beetroot into juice, covering the essential stages from raw material preparation to final packaging.

Unlike conventional fruit juice production, beetroot processing requires equipment suitable for handling firm root vegetables while maintaining a consistent production flow.

The objective was to establish a practical and efficient processing setup integrating washing, grinding, pressing, filtration, pasteurization and filling.

The Solution

ProFruit Machinery supplied an integrated beetroot juice processing line covering the main production stages.

The process begins with the AQUAMILL washing and grinding system, which prepares the beetroot for juice extraction. The prepared material is then transferred to the POWERPRESS 800 belt press, designed for continuous juice extraction from fruits, berries and vegetables.

Following extraction, the juice passes through a filtration system before entering the HEAT 500 diesel pasteurizer, which provides controlled heat treatment.

The setup also includes stainless steel tanks with agitation systems to support product handling throughout the production process.

For the final packaging stage, Red Rose Salads selected two filling solutions: a GRAVITY 6-head bottle filler and SEMIFLOW semi-automatic fillers for Bag-in-Box and Stand-Up Pouch packaging.

This combination provides flexibility in packaging formats, allowing the production setup to accommodate both bottled juice and larger flexible packaging.
